CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Launches Construction of Eco-Friendly ‘3-B Garden’ at CM House.

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the construction of the ‘3-B Garden’ (Bee-friendly, Butterfly-friendly, and Bird-friendly Garden) at the Government Garden within the Chief Minister’s Residence cum Circuit House premises in Dehradun by planting a Krishna Vat sapling. The specialized garden is being developed with a focus on the conservation and propagation of bees, butterflies, and birds. Under this initiative, a wide variety of flora that aids pollination and boosts biodiversity is being planted on a large scale. Furthermore, the use of pesticides and other harmful chemicals will be prohibited around the garden to safeguard the local natural ecosystem.

The creation of this unique habitat will not only promote apiculture (beekeeping) but will also significantly contribute to the conservation and enrichment of biodiversity. Additionally, the garden is envisioned to play a pivotal role in raising environmental consciousness and awareness about nature among the general public.

The Chief Minister had previously directed Garden In-charge Shri Deepak Purohit to develop an eco-sanctuary of this kind, following which the selection and plantation of suitable flora species were initiated. The garden features a diverse, mixed plantation of species including Jamun (Java plum), Mulberry, Sahjan (Moringa), Kadamba, Camphor, Hibiscus, Guava, Neem, Bamboo, Bottle Brush, Tecoma, Zinnia, Cosmos, Pentas, Milkweed, Passion Flower, Hamelia, Ixora, Lantana, Tulsi, Lavender, Sunflower, Rosemary, and Mint.

Concurrently, the plantation of new saplings has also commenced adjacent to the decaying and aging trees on the premises. Over the past year, the plantation of high-Himalayan and mountainous species—such as Baanj (Oak), Buransh (Rhododendron), Tejpatta (Bay leaf), and Paya (Himalayan Cherry)—has also been underway. These plants are currently thriving healthily, enhancing the natural aesthetic and ecological uniqueness of the estate.
