Haridwar: In a complex and high-risk case, doctors at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun, successfully performed an advanced robot-assisted gynecological surgery on a 45-year-old woman suffering from multiple large uterine fibroids, significantly improving her quality of life.
The patient, a resident of Dehradun, had been experiencing severe pelvic pain and heavy menstrual bleeding for a prolonged period, which was adversely affecting her daily activities. Detailed clinical evaluation and imaging revealed a massively enlarged uterus, a large lump roughly the size of a 24–26-week pregnant uterus, along with large fibroids and dense adhesions involving surrounding structures, making the case particularly challenging.
Considering the complexity, a specialized surgical team led by Dr. Rashmi Varshney Gupta, Associate Director – Gynaecology, Robotic and Laparoscopic surgery ,Max Hospital, Dehradun,undertook the procedure using advanced robotic technology. Despite significant surgical challenges, the team successfully completed the operation with high precision, removing approximately 1 kg of uterine mass without leaving any visible abdominal scar.
