Dehradun: District Magistrate/District Election Officer Dr. Ashish Chauhan held a crucial meeting with all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program of the electoral roll. He issued strict instructions to complete the revision work flawlessly within the stipulated time frame.
The District Election Officer stated that the special revision of the voter list is a vital part of the democratic process. He directed that the mapping of the electoral roll be conducted with utmost seriousness and transparency, ensuring that all eligible voters are included. Simultaneously, the names of absent, shifted, and deceased voters must be removed with extreme care so that no eligible voter is deprived of their franchise. The District Magistrate advised all officials to thoroughly study the guidelines issued by the Election Commission to ensure the swift resolution of any issues.

He added that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and supervisors must be given detailed training for the revision work, and all their doubts should be cleared during the training sessions. Furthermore, instructions were given to conduct verifications through local Patwaris in the respective areas to eliminate any scope for error. He noted that Booth Level Agents (BLA-2) appointed by political parties play a crucial role in revising the voter list at the booth level. He directed all EROs to hold meetings with political parties in their areas to ensure the appointment of BLA-2s for every booth, ensuring error-free and transparent revision work. To improve arrangements at polling stations, all EROs were also instructed to conduct physical verification of the booths in their respective jurisdictions.
Providing details during the meeting, Deputy District Election Officer Abhinav Shah stated that, as per the directives of the Election Commission, the printing of enumeration forms and the training of personnel will be completed by June 7. After this, from June 8 to July 7, 2026, BLOs will conduct door-to-door visits to distribute and collect the enumeration forms. During this same period, the final rationalization of booths will be completed, incorporating new polling booths.
The primary draft of the electoral roll will be published on July 14. Claims and objections will be accepted from July 14 to August 13, and their disposal will be ensured by September 11. The final publication of the electoral roll will take place on September 15.
A total of 13,80,800 voters are registered across all 10 assembly constituencies of Dehradun district. Under the pre-SIR campaign, the mapping of 11,01,437 voters (80.38 percent) was completed by May 16, while the mapping process for the remaining 2,70,161 voters is currently underway. He informed that 47,923 voters have been identified as absent, 1,45,797 as shifted, and 33,008 as deceased.
There are a total of 1,882 polling stations in the district. So far, the Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed 1,836 BLA-2s, the Congress has appointed 1,443, and the CPI has appointed 378. Authorized BLA-2s can coordinate with the BLOs at their respective polling stations to assist in the verification, correction, and other tasks related to the voter list.
The Deputy District Magistrate added that any citizen can access registration and voter ID-related information through the ECI-NET platform designated by the Election Commission. Citizens can also contact their respective BLO using the “Book a Call with BLO” feature available on the app. Additionally, information can be obtained by calling the election office’s toll-free number, 1950.
The meeting was attended by Deputy District Election Officer Abhinav Shah, all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, and all nodal officers associated with the revision arrangements.
