Dehradun: Ms. Theia Singh, a spirited and talented 3-year-old girl from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, has created history by becoming the youngest girl to earn a yellow belt in Taekwondo, a feat recognized and documented by the World Book of Records, London. It is a laurel for the state of Uttarakhand.
Her parents, Mr. Pranjal Singh and Ms. Amandeep Kaur, both Joint Commissioners of Income Tax, introduced both their daughters to Taekwondo for the purpose of discipline, life skills and self-defence, recognizing the importance of these values for women empowerment. Theia’s achievement at such a tender age is a testament to the importance of discipline and routine instilled in both her and her sister by their parents. Despite being just three years and six months old, she has demonstrated exceptional prowess in Taekwondo, a sport that demands rigorous training, focus, and physical fitness. Prior to the record, she had also participated in District Taekwondo Championship held in Dehradun in the month of May 2024 where she won silver medal in sub junior category corresponding to her weight category.
Her journey began when she was just two and half years old when she started accompanying her elder sister, Moira Singh, a blue belt herself presently, and observed her perform. Since then, both the sisters have been regular at Taekwondo training and support each other in doing better while practicing together at home. Theia has showcased an unwavering passion for Taekwondo, training diligently under the expert guidance of her coaches, Mr. Javed Khan and Ms. Hina Habib of Uttarakhand Sports Taekwondo Academy. Her commitment and determination have inspired not only her peers but also the entire community, proving that age is no barrier to achieving greatness. Her school, Peek-a-boo, Race Course has been instrumental in instilling confidence in her to shine in her own skin. As part of her overall development, she is also learning Kathak from Kathak Kutumbh run by Ms. Upma Shukla along with her sister.
The World Book of Records, London, known for documenting incredible human achievements, has officially acknowledged Theia’s record-breaking accomplishment, solidifying her place in the annals of martial arts history.
