Sports, Science & Smiles: A Power-Packed Day 5 at the National Sports Vision Conclave Dehr

Dehradun: Day 5 of the National Sports Vision Conclave at the 38th National Games brought forth impactful discussions on sports medicine, injury prevention, and athlete well-being. Renowned speakers led informative sessions, complemented by interactive activities that emphasized key aspects of sports performance and recovery.

Session 1: Sports Medicine Essentials

The first session, titled “Sports Medicine Essentials: Staying Fit, Staying Game Ready,” was conducted by renowned speaker Subrata Dey. Through a comprehensive presentation, he highlighted the importance of sports medicine and physical fitness in an athlete’s career. He elaborated on the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) cycle and discussed two types of physical fitness including health-related and motor-related fitness along with the various factors affecting fitness, health, and athletic performance.

Dey also emphasized the significance of maintaining an optimal heart rate, the impact of psychological stress, lifestyle, and environmental conditions on athletes, and the importance of proper sleep and recovery. His session was made interactive through engaging discussions with students, where he asked questions related to heart rate and physical fitness. Notably, he remarked, “You live, you learn, and you upgrade.”

During the session, the event’s mascot, Mauli, was introduced on stage, adding to the enthusiasm of the audience. The session concluded with a token of appreciation presented by Mr. Amit Sinha to Mr. Subrata Dey, Dr. Anil Chauhan, and Mr. Shashi Prabhakar. Mr. Prabhakar also shared his experience of the conclave and the 38th National Games, followed by concluding remarks from Mr. Amit Sinha on the significance of sports in personal and professional growth.

Session 2: Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation – A Proactive Approach

The second session was moderated by Anisha Ghosh and featured Dr. Anil Chauhan, a professor at KGK (PG College), as the keynote speaker. The session focused on injury prevention and rehabilitation, with Dr. Chauhan providing valuable insights into different types of injuries, including acute and overuse injuries. He discussed factors affecting ankle stability and mobility, detailing the three joints present in the ankle and their movements—specifically inversion and eversion.

Dr. Chauhan also demonstrated ankle exercises on stage, emphasizing the importance of rehabilitation in an athlete’s recovery journey. His session provided participants with practical knowledge to help prevent and recover from injuries effectively.

Session 3: Game On, Laugh On – A Comedy Timeout

The final session of the day, hosted by Varun Sachdev, was a light-hearted segment titled “Game On, Laugh On – A Comedy Timeout,” designed to entertain and uplift the attendees. The session featured performances by well-known comedians Prem Sagar, Amit Maharana, and Mr. Raj.

Prem Sagar opened the session with an engaging act that included interactions with students and humorous takes on Uttarakhand. His wit and charm entertained the audience, making for an engaging experience. Amit Maharana, one of Dehradun’s most famous stand-up comedians, followed with an energetic and relatable performance, sharing humorous stories from daily life. The final act was presented by Mr. Raj, who narrated stories from his village with a comedic flair, captivating the audience with his storytelling skills.

During the session, tokens of appreciation were awarded to participating athletes, including those from the squash category. The event concluded with Mr. Amit Sinha presenting a token of appreciation to all the comedians for their entertaining contributions to the conclave.

The fifth day of the National Sports Vision Conclave proved to be an insightful and engaging experience, bringing together experts, athletes, and enthusiasts to discuss vital aspects of sports science while also incorporating elements of entertainment and motivation. The conclave continues to serve as a platform for fostering knowledge and enthusiasm for sports at the national level.
