Dehradun: A special session was organized in Uttarakhand ahead of the National Games, conducted by the state’s Assistant Sports Director, Sandeep Pauri. The event featured notable guests, including C.O. Purnima Garg and Dronacharya Award winner Hansa Manral. Several sports coaches from across the state were in attendance.
C.O. Purnima Garg congratulated everyone on the upcoming National Games and highlighted the significance of sports. She emphasized that sports are essential not only for physical and mental well-being but also for keeping youth away from harmful addictions like drugs and excessive social media use. She instructed the coaches to create a positive environment for their players, ensuring that athletes feel comfortable discussing any issues, such as food, accommodation, or other problems, during training camps. She also shared some important helpline numbers and recommended downloading the Uttarakhand Police app to ensure easy access to assistance for players and coaches.
Addressing the coaches, Dronacharya Award winner Hansa Manral said that a coach’s role should not be limited to teaching sports but should also focus on recognizing players’ potential and helping them improve.
