Samarth Jain Declared Overall Champion at 20th Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament.

Nainital: The three-day “Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament – 2025”, organized by Raj Bhavan Golf Club, Nainital, from May 30, concluded. The tournament saw the participation of 177 golfers from various states across the country. During the prize distribution ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Nainital, Hon’ble Governor and President of Raj Bhavan Golf Club, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Gurmit Singh, felicitated the winners and runners-up from different categories.

Samarth Jain emerged as the Overall Champion of the 20th Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament, while Nusrat Abbasi was declared the runner-up. In the Best Net category, Sudhir Singh secured the winner’s title, and Colonel Sanjeev Pant was the runner-up.

In the Super Veteran Gross Category, Colonel S. C. Gupta won first place, with S. K. Suri as the runner-up. In the Women’s Category, Dr. Srishti Dhaun was the winner, and Sharanya Sah was the runner-up. In the Veteran Gross Category, Zafar Iqbal secured the top position, while Narottam Das was runner-up. Master Bhavya Ratan received the title of Most Promising Golfer.

In the Junior Category, under the 15–17 age group, Amayra Bajaj was the winner and Aamir Usmani the runner-up. In the 12–14 age group, Samriddh Chand Thakur won, with Medhansh Bisht as runner-up. For under-12, Rushank Pratap Singh Sijwali was declared winner, and Mohammad Maaz Mansoor as runner-up.

The Governor, while congratulating all the winners, stated that the golf tournament not only provided players with the joy of the sport but also an unforgettable experience amid the natural beauty and serene environment of Nainital. He said playing at the Raj Bhavan Golf Course is not just a sporting event but also an opportunity to connect with the culture, nature, and hospitality of Uttarakhand.

The Governor noted that in recent years, the Raj Bhavan Golf Course has been opened to the public, especially to school children, to foster interest in golf among the youth. Efforts are being made to popularize the sport and connect more people with it. He also expressed satisfaction with the participation of women and young players, adding that in future, continuous efforts will be made to make the tournament more grand and impactful.

He extended his congratulations to all participants, organizers, sponsors, spectators, and especially to the Raj Bhavan Golf Club, Nainital and the local administration for the successful organization of the event.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Secretary to the Governor and Vice-President of the Golf Club, Ravinath Raman, Kumaon Commissioner, Deepak Rawat, Additional Secretary to the Governor and Vice-President, Swati S. Bhadauria, Golf Captain, Colonel Vivek Bhattand Financial Controller to the Governor, Dr. Tripti Srivastava.
