Uttarkashi: BJP’s chairperson candidate for Badahat Municipal Council (Uttarkashi), Kishor Bhatt, conducted a public outreach campaign on Thursday with senior party leaders from Ganeshpur to Joshiyada. During the campaign, Kishor Bhatt emphasized plans to operate year-round river rafting activities between Ganeshpur and Joshiyara to boost tourism and create tourism-based employment for locals.
The BJP launched its outreach campaign in support of Kishor Bhatt across areas including Ganeshpur, Gangori, Tekhla, Joshiyada, Vikas Bhawan, NIM Bend, Jhula Pul, Main Bazaar, Continental, and the Barrage. The campaign witnessed participation from prominent leaders such as Gangotri MLA Suresh Chauhan, former MLA Vijaypal Sajwan, former state minister Surat Ram Nautiyal, Shanti Rawat (wife of late former MLA Gopal Rawat), Buddhi Singh Panwar, and other leaders, along with a large number of party officials, workers, and supporters who sought votes for Kishor Bhatt.
Kishor Bhatt said his commitment to develop Uttarkashi not only as a religious city but also as a tourism hub. He proposed year-round river rafting from Ganeshpur Gangori to Joshiyada Barrage to enhance tourism activities, generate employment, and bring economic benefits to the region. Kishor also urged voters to support him in the name of development, citing key welfare schemes introduced by the central and state governments.
During the outreach, residents from different areas expressed their belief that Kishor’s leadership, supported by a “double-engine government” (referring to BJP governments at both the center and state), could bring comprehensive development to the city. They highlighted the urgent need for improvements in new wards, including roads, drainage, sewer systems, streetlights, and parking facilities.
During out reach campaign former municipal council chairperson Sudha Gupta, Ramesh Semwal, Jaiveer Singh, Nagendra Negi, Khushal Negi, Harish Dangwal, Women’s Wing President Lalita Semwal, Sabita Bhatt, Surendra Singh, Rajendra Singh were also present.
