PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inaugurates National IP Yatra Programme in Dehradun

Dehradun: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) today inaugurated the National Level IP Yatra Programme in dehradun with the support of the office of the Development Commissioner (MSME), Ministry of MSME Govt. Of India, A Two-Day Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) at Hotel Ramada . The programme is being held on 26th and 27th February 2026 with the objective of promoting awareness and practical understanding of IPR among MSMEs, startups, researchers, and entrepreneurs.

The inaugural session was graced by the Chief Guest, Shri Ganesh Joshi, Hon’ble Minister, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of Uttarakhand. He congratulated PHDCCI for organising this program for the state of Uttarakhand. He highlighted the importance as per the vision of the Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi empowering the IPR specially. The minister also highlighted about  Uttarakhand strong Innovation potential in various economic areas covering agriculture and Industry  stating that Uttarakhand is first state getting 18 GI on single day the highest number of GI IPRs in the country. In his address, he emphasized the importance of startups and entrepreneurship development Geographical Indications (GI) for Uttarakhand’s traditional agricultural products such as millets (Mandua/Ragi), Jhangora, red rice, Rajma, and turmeric. He noted that GI recognition helps protect product authenticity, strengthens brand value, and enhances farmers’ income through better market access.

Shri Vineet Gupta, Chairman, PHDCCI Uttarakhand Chapter, also addressed the gathering and reaffirmed PHDCCI’s commitment to strengthening the IP ecosystem in the state.

The session was further addressed by Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Vice Chancellor, Swami Rama Himalayan University; Shri D. P. Goel, Co-Chair, MSME Committee, PHDCCI; and Dr. H. P. Kumar, Former Chairman & Managing Director, NSIC and Advisor, PHDCCI, Shri  Amit Khaneja co-chair, PHDCCI Uttarakhand Chapter. The speakers highlighted the need to promote innovation and encourage wider adoption of Intellectual Property Rights among enterprises and institutions.

Day 1 featured focused technical sessions on the overview of IPR, patent filing procedures, strategic IP management for MSMEs, patent informatics, commercialization, and technology transfer. The programme will continue on 27th February with sessions on patent opposition, infringement, enforcement of IPR, along with an IPR Helpdesk Camp providing one-to-one assistance to participants.

Through the IP Yatra Programme, PHDCCI reiterates its commitment to fostering an innovation-driven ecosystem and empowering stakeholders to effectively protect and leverage their intellectual assets.
