Dehradun: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Uttarakhand government is striving for the progress of farming. For this, the Agriculture Department is running many welfare schemes. Along with this, the benefits of important schemes of the Central Government are also being delivered to the farmers of the state.
The Agriculture Department is providing the benefits of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi with the cooperation of the Central Government along with providing certified seed distribution, availability of agricultural equipment, irrigation facility, fertilizer, pest control, crop insurance to the farmers. The government is encouraging farmers to increase production by checking the nutrients of the soil of their fields, for this Soil Health Card Scheme is being run. Under the scheme, a provision of Rs 508.89 lakh has been made by the Government of India in this financial year.
Similarly, under the Traditional Agriculture Development Scheme, organic farming is being promoted in selected villages on the basis of clusters. At present, this scheme is being operated in 3900 clusters, for which the Government of India has made a provision of Rs 13,127.40 lakh in the current financial year.
8.88 lakh farmers are benefiting from Samman Nidhi
Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, an amount of six thousand rupees per year is being given to 8.88 lakh registered farmers in the state through DBT in their account. A total amount of Rs 178.04 crore has been made available in the financial year 2024-25. Under the scheme, a total amount of Rs 2,757.20 crore has been distributed in the state so far. Similarly, under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, rice and mandua crops are being covered under the scheme in all the districts from 1 April 2024.
Special scheme for SC – ST dominated villages
The government is running a special agricultural development program for small-holding farmers of Scheduled Castes and Tribes. Under this, a provision of Rs 700 lakh has been made for selected villages in the current financial year.

Our priority is to bring modern technology and innovations to the farmers, so that farming can become more profitable and sustainable. Keeping in mind the geographical location of Uttarakhand, organic farming, fruit production and cultivation of medicinal plants are being specially encouraged”.
