Haridwar: On the occasion of World Lung Day, which is observed annually on September 25th, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun, raises awareness on Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Serious sleep-related disorder that is described as the hidden ‘silent killer’ of both lungs and heart.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) occurs when a person’s breathing repeatedly stops or becomes shallow during sleep, reducing oxygen levels in the body. This leads to poor-quality sleep, frequent awakenings at night, and symptoms such as morning fatigue, mood changes, and headaches. Many patients remain unaware of the problem, as it happens unconsciously through the night.

Treatment options include continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, oral appliances, lifestyle changes, weight management, and in selected cases, surgical procedures as well. Sleep is the foundation of good health, not just relaxation. Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a serious yet fully treatable condition if identified in time.”
