Max Hospital Dehradun Hosts Carnival for Cancer Survivors.

Dehradun – Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun today hosted a Carnival for Cancer Survivors, bringing them together with their families for a day of celebration, encouragement, and community support. The event saw the participation of over 90 people. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and hope as the ceremonial lamp was lit by Dr. Saurabh Tiwari, Consultant – Surgical Oncology, Dr. Runu Sharma, Consultant – Medical Oncology, and Dr. Amit Badola, Consultant – Medical Oncology, from Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun.

The objective of the event was to share stories of courage and resilience of those who have triumphed over cancer and to encourage others to adopt a positive outlook towards life. Their words deeply moved the attending patients and their families.

As part of the event, an Art Therapy Workshop was also organized for cancer patients and survivors. The workshop focused on using art as a means to reduce stress and express emotions in a creative and healing way.

Dr. Saurabh Tiwari, Consultant, Surgical Oncology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun shared that “Fighting cancer requires not just medication, but also immense mental strength and courage. The treatment journey is often long and difficult. In such times, the support and encouragement from family members play a crucial role in strengthening the patient both mentally and emotionally.”

Dr. Runu Sharma, Consultant – Medical Oncology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun, also interacted with the patients and provided valuable insights on post-cancer care. They emphasized that “In some cases, cancer can recur, and therefore adopting a healthy lifestyle becomes extremely important in preventing recurrence. They recommended regular exercise, a balanced and nutritious diet, stress management, avoidance of smoking and alcohol, and routine health check-ups as effective measures in cancer recovery and prevention. Cancer is not to be feared, but to be fought with courage. With timely treatment, a positive mindset, and the support of loved ones, the battle against cancer can indeed be won.”
