Dehradun: As New-born Care Awareness Week is observed annually from November 15–21, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun, underscores the crucial importance of safe, informed, and timely new-born care practices. The week-long initiative aims to empower parents, caregivers, and the community with essential knowledge to reduce preventable complications during the first 28 days of life — considered the most delicate and critical phase of a child’s development.
Emphasising the need for vigilant care in the early days, Dr. Rohit Srivastava, Principal Consultant – Paediatrics, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun, said, “The new-born period is incredibly fragile, and the right care at the right moment can influence the child’s long-term health. Practices such as immediate and exclusive breastfeeding, maintaining proper hygiene, keeping the baby warm, and following the vaccination schedule are simple yet powerful tools in preventing infections and supporting healthy growth.”
Dr. Srivastava, further added, “Parents should remain attentive to early warning signs like poor feeding, difficulty breathing, fever, or unusual sleepiness. Prompt medical attention in such cases can be lifesaving. Regular paediatric evaluations and consistent follow-up visits play an essential role in safeguarding new-born health.”
In observance of the awareness week, Max Hospital, Dehradun, is organising educational workshops, practical demonstrations, and counselling sessions to guide families on vital new-born care aspects, including breastfeeding techniques, hygiene practices, immunization protocols, and safe sleep guidelines.
With a continued focus on community awareness and high-quality paediatric care, Max Hospital, Dehradun, remains dedicated to ensuring that every new-born receives the protection, nurturing, and medical support needed for a healthy start in life.
