Kedarnath Assembly by-election on 20 November 2024; results would declare on 23 November 2024.

Dehradun: The Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande, addressed the media at the Secretariat’s Media Center regarding the Kedarnath Assembly by-election. Additional Chief Electoral Officer announced that the notification for the Kedarnath Assembly by-election would be issued on October 22, 2024, with the last date for nominations set for October 29, 2024. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on October 30, 2024, and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is November 4, 2024.

He further informed that the voting for the Kedarnath Assembly by-election would be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, and the counting of votes would take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande stated that with the announcement of the by-election, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect throughout the entire district, which will remain in force until November 25, 2024.

Regarding election preparations, the Additional Chief Electoral Officer mentioned that 173 polling booths have been set up for the Kedarnath Assembly constituency. Polling teams for 7 booths will be dispatched two days before the polling date, while polling teams for the remaining 166 booths will be dispatched a day before the voting day.

He also mentioned that the Kedarnath Assembly constituency has been divided into 2 zones and 27 sectors, with 10 static surveillance teams monitoring in 3 shifts. To ensure smooth conduct of the elections, 8 flying squads have been deployed, and two video teams will continuously monitor the area. Additionally, one Returning Officer and three Assistant Returning Officers have been appointed for the by-election.

Dr. Jogdande stated that there are 90,540 voters in the constituency, including 44,765 male and 45,775 female voters. There are 1,092 differently-abled voters, while the number of voters above 85 years of age is 641. The number of service voters in the constituency is 2,949.

He also informed that Form 12 is being distributed to facilitate home voting for differently-abled and voters above 85 years of age.On this occasion, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Ms. Mukta Mishra, Mr. K.S. Negi, and Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Mastu Das were present.
