Haridwar: Governor Lt. General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) attended the All India Vedic Conference-2024 held in Kankhal, Haridwar. The three-day event was organized under the aegis of Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Ved Vidya Pratishthan, bringing together scholars representing 10 branches of the four Vedas from 14 states across India. During the program, the Governor honored distinguished Vedic scholars and visited an exhibition showcasing exhibits related to the Vedas.
In his address, the Governor highlighted the profound significance of the Vedas in Indian culture. He Said that the Vedas form the foundation of India’s knowledge tradition and hold solutions to contemporary and future challenges. A person who studies the Vedas, becomes a true guide to society. The Vedas are not merely religious scriptures but a beacon of knowledge illuminating every aspect of life, he added.
The Governor referred to Uttarakhand as the sacred land of the Vedas and Vedic education, emphasizing its historical role as the abode of sages and saints. For thousands of years, the study and teaching of the Vedas have flourished here. He urged everyone to take on the responsibility of spreading the invaluable knowledge of the Vedas to humanity and connecting the younger generation with this legacy. He stated that every particle of Devbhoomi (the land of gods) is imbued with the penance and wisdom of sages.
Elaborating on the unique history of Indian culture, the Governor said its roots lie in the Vedas, Upanishads, Mahabharata, Ramayana, and Puranas. He expressed confidence that the conference would inspire public interest in the study and understanding of the Vedas and their significance. Congratulating the organizers, he emphasized that such initiatives help preserve and strengthen India’s cultural heritage.
on this occasion Mahamandaleshwar Acharya Swami Shri Vishweshwaranand Giri Ji Maharaj, RSS Joint General Secretary Dr. Krishna Gopal, Patanjali University Vice-Chancellor Acharya Balkrishna, Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Ved Vidya Pratishthan Secretary Prof. Virupaksha V. Jaddipal, former Secretary Prof. Kishor Mishra, Haridwar District Magistrate Kamendra Singh, SSP Pramendra Dobhal, and several other scholars were also present there.
