BJP MLA Vinod Chamoli oppose government programs within his own party’s government

Dehradun: BJP MLA Vinod Chamoli has begun to oppose government programs within his own party’s government. He has accused the officials of the administration of disrespecting elected representatives and questioned their behavior. In this regard, he has written a letter to the Chief Secretary demanding the creation of a model code of conduct. He has also decided not to attend any public program organized by the government until such a code is established.

His dissatisfaction was expressed after he was not given a place on the stage at a program held at the police lines to mark the state’s foundation day.

Vinod Chamoli, a two-time MLA from the Dharmapur constituency in Dehradun, is known for his outspoken and candid style. This time, the BJP MLA has put government officials on the spot. He wrote a letter to Chief Secretary Radha Ratudi stating that the Constitution of the country embodies the principle of democratic governance, where the country’s administration is to be conducted through representatives elected by the people. It has been observed that in programs and meetings organized by the government, the officials of the administration do not provide due respect and position to the elected representatives, which leads to their humiliation.

He emphasized that in a democratic system, elected representatives are those chosen by the public, and it is through them that the government operates; therefore, dismissing their status represents a direct insult to the public. He raised concerns about the fact that officials and employees do not adhere to dignified conduct in their interactions with elected representatives. He has demanded the establishment of a clear code of conduct to ensure harmony between elected representatives and the bureaucracy in the state.

The MLA has clarified that until the government establishes such a code or directs officials to uphold ideal conduct towards elected representatives, he will not participate in any public government program within his constituency.
