Awareness campaign is part of Bajaj Finance’s 100-city cyber security programme.

Ramnagar: Bajaj Finance Limited (BFL), a part of Bajaj Finserv and India’s largest private sector Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), organised a cyber fraud awareness programme, ‘Knockout Digital Fraud,’ at the M.P. Hindu Inter College premises in Ramnagar. The event provided digital users with information about various types of threats and the best ways to keep their finances secure.

The ‘Knockout Digital Fraud’ programme is in line with the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) 2024 Fraud Risk Management guidelines for NBFCs, which emphasise early detection, employee accountability, and public participation to make the digital ecosystem safe for everyone.

The programme focused on drawing citizens’ attention to common financial frauds committed by scammers, including fake social media accounts, WhatsApp groups, and websites that impersonate financial companies, falsely claim affiliation, and counterfeit their employees.

Addressing the people during the programme, Senior Sub-Inspector Mo. Yunus of Ramnagar Kotwali advised students not to click on unknown links at all. He said, “Use your mobile with knowledge, do not fall for greed. Do not give your information or transfer money to unknown numbers. Also, use your photo on social media carefully. Using someone else’s photo without permission is a crime.”

He also told everyone present at the event to immediately inform the police in case of digital arrest. If someone is a victim of fraud, they should register a complaint immediately on the number 1930.

On this occasion, a spokesperson for Bajaj Finance said, “The financial security of our consumers is paramount for us. Senior teachers and a large number of students were present at the event. The ‘Knockout Digital Fraud’ programme provides the cyber community with valuable security tips to safeguard personal and sensitive information. This includes avoiding sharing OTPs and PINs, not clicking on suspicious emails, SMS, links, or QR codes, and not downloading applications from unknown sources.

The programme includes a series of interactive workshops, digital awareness campaigns, and community outreach programmes in key cities and towns.
