Aviva India Launches Preventive Care Program to Support Rural Communities in Uttarakhand.

Dehradun   — Aviva India, a leading private life insurance company, has announced the launch of a Preventive Care Program, focused on addressing critical healthcare gaps in remote parts of Uttarakhand. Developed in partnership with the Central Himalayan Rural Action Group (CHIRAG) Foundation, this program aims to deliver comprehensive preventive healthcare services to underserved communities via Mini-Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) and a dedicated Women’s Health and Hygiene Program.

Remote Himalayan villages face acute healthcare challenges, with families often travelling 50–80 km for basic services. Limited medical professionals, high costs, and low awareness of preventive care further worsen outcomes. Aviva India’s healthcare efforts aim to bridge these gaps by providing free primary healthcare and diagnostics, thereby building resilience and healthier communities across about 35 villages in Almora district.

The MMUs will bring diagnostics, telemedicine, and free medicines to the doorsteps of more than 20 villages, conducting regular health camps that will benefit approximately 660 people every month. Simultaneously, the Women’s Health & Hygiene Program will reach 15 villages, providing gynecological consultations, menstrual health education, sanitary supplies, and preventive screenings. Over a six-month period, nearly 3,480 women and girls will directly benefit from these interventions, which are designed to improve maternal health, promote hygiene, and spread preventive care awareness.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Asit Rath, CEO & MD, Aviva India, said,
“At Aviva India, we recognize that health and financial security are deeply interconnected. Good health is the foundation upon which families build their futures, yet for too many people in India’s rural communities, access to even the most basic healthcare remains out of reach. Through this initiative, we are building solutions that not only deliver immediate care but also build long-term resilience for women, children, and families in some of the country’s most underserved regions. This reflects our purpose to secure what matters most and to help build a healthier and more resilient India.”

Dr. Badrish Singh Mehra, Executive Director, from the CHIRAG Foundation added, “At Central Himalayan Rural Action Group (CHIRAG), we have always believed that real change begins when people feel seen, cared for, and supported. Our partnership with Aviva India brings this belief to life. Together, we are reaching out to those who need the health services the most and creating spaces where families can heal, learn, and grow. This collaboration is about nurturing healthier communities and reminding every individual that their wellbeing matters.”

The projects will be implemented between August 2025 and March 2026, with impact monitored through monthly and quarterly reviews and site visits by Aviva India. Bi-annual impact assessments will be presented to Aviva’s CSR Committee to ensure transparency and accountability in line with the company’s governance standards.
