Dehradun: The selection process for recruitment to 285 posts of Block Resource Persons (BRP) and 670 posts of Cluster Resource Persons (CRP) in the Education Department will undergo changes. Instead of random selection through the Employment Prayag Portal of the Skill Development and Employment Department, candidates will now be selected based on merit.
The government has asked for a proposal regarding this change from the State Project Office of Samagra Shiksha. A total of 16,000 candidates have applied for the 955 CRP and BRP posts. The online applications for these positions were invited starting from June 29, 2024.
Concerns were raised regarding this outsourced recruitment process. Some candidates argued that random selection through the Prayag Portal might leave higher-merit candidates out of the selection process, while candidates with lower merit scores might get selected, leading to complications. According to officials in the Education Department, after objections were raised about the selection process, the government was consulted for guidance on whether the selection should be random or based on merit. On October 16, 2024, the government instructed the State Project Directorate of Samagra Shiksha to send a revised proposal to switch from random selection to merit-based selection.
There is a government order stating that the recruitment will be conducted through the Employment Department’s Prayag Portal. However, with random selection, merit-based candidates might miss out on the recruitment. Guidance has been sought from the government on whether the recruitment should be merit-based or conducted through the Prayag Portal. — Jharna Kamthan, Director General of Education, Uttarakhand.
