To Combat Cybercrimes, Uttarakhand Police Seeks Information and Suggestions from Five States.

Dehradun: To strengthen its cybercrime response system, Mr. Abhinav Kumar, DGP, Uttarakahand Police, has written to the Directors General of Police in five states Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, requesting detailed information about the measures being taken to control cybercrimes effectively in their states. This initiative is part of Uttarakhand’s ongoing efforts to improve the prevention and management of cybercrimes.

The letter specifically requests the following information:

1. Detailed Overview of Cybercrimes:
The data on cybercrimes registered under the Information Technology Act, 2000, as well as other related crimes under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and BNS (Bureau of National Security) over the past three years. The request includes a call for numerical details from each state to facilitate a comparative analysis of cybercrimes.

2. Infrastructure Details:
Information about the systems in place at police stations, district, and state levels for controlling cybercrimes. This includes the establishment of cybercrime units, the appointment of trained personnel, and details of the available technical resources.

3. Special Arrangements and Protocols:
The protocols and arrangements adopted to deal with major cyber crises, such as attacks on critical infrastructure, data breaches, and ransomware incidents. Additionally, details of crisis management teams and partnerships with private sector experts or national agencies have also been requested.

Mr. Abhinav Kumar, DGP, said that this initiative is aimed at taking necessary steps to establish effective control over cybercrimes in Uttarakhand. Based on the information received from other states, the Uttarakhand Police will make improvements and changes to its own strategies for combating cybercrimes. Moreover, this inter-state cooperation will prove to be an important step in addressing the challenge of cybercrime and controlling emerging threats in Uttarakhand more effectively.
