Haridwar: Ms. P. Renuka Devi, DIG, Police, GRP (Government Railway Police) Uttarakhand, organized a crime review meeting and a conference for officers/employees at the GRP headquarters auditorium in Haridwar.
Where 115 lost mobile phones of train passengers, valued at approximately ₹2 million, which were recovered by the SOG (Special Operations Group), were returned to their rightful owners.
From Rishikesh Railway Station, district Dehradun, a passenger named Manoj from district Champawat, who was a victim of poisoning, was aided by Shriram, a tea stall vendor at the station. Shriram identified the accused, helping the police successfully solve the case, for which he was honored and rewarded.
Following this, a conference was held with all the staff present, during which their personal and departmental issues were discussed. The Superintendent of Police, GRP, was directed to resolve these issues.
The following instructions were given to the officers present during the station-wise crime review:
Recently, incidents of iron poles, gas cylinders, etc., being placed on railway tracks have come to light. Additionally, intoxicated and vagrant individuals are often found sitting on railway tracks. To address this, coordination with RPF (Railway Protection Force) and district police was directed for regular patrolling/checking of railway tracks.
All station in-charges were instructed to ensure the successful resolution of pending cases and 100% recovery of property related to the cases.
Necessary instructions were given regarding the disposal of pending goods and for the proper disposal of goods as per court orders.
Instructions were given to ensure 100% compliance with court orders.
Investigators were instructed to include complete details like address, Aadhaar number, and mobile number of witnesses and arrested accused in the charge sheets.
Legal action should be taken against those involved in cases of poisoning, particularly regarding banned drugs.
Instructions were given to create an action plan to solve theft, chain-snatching, and poisoning cases, increase the recovery rate, and prevent such incidents.
100% fingerprint upload of accused individuals was directed through the NAFIS software.
Pre-recorded awareness messages should be created and broadcasted to educate passengers at railway stations and trains.
All station in-charges were instructed to rotate the personnel assigned to escort duty in trains and to collect feedback from them after they return.
Trains with a high incidence of theft were identified, and it was directed to increase escort duties for these trains.
Instructions were given to resolve pending investigations as soon as possible.
In coordination with the RPF/Railway Department, adequate lighting at railway stations and platforms should be ensured.
Those traveling under the influence of alcohol should be fined using an alcohol meter.
Instructions were given for checking operations at railway stations by the BDS (Bomb Disposal Squad) and dog squads.
Instructions were given to promote the Uttarakhand Police app, Gaura Shakti app, and important GRP helpline numbers such as 1090, 1930, 182, 112, and the CEIR portal as much as possible.
The e-beat book was instructed to be updated regularly.
All personnel were directed to perform their duties with discipline, and any disciplinary violations would result in appropriate action.
Investigators were instructed to make 100% use of the IO (Investigation Officer) app and share the information with their subordinates.
Criminal investigations and actions in case of terrorist incidents, stampedes, arson, etc., should be conducted according to the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) issued by police headquarters. Subordinates should also be informed and mock drills conducted from time to time.
After the review meeting, three personnel were awarded certificates and cash prizes for their work in NDPS Act cases registered in 2024, and 15 personnel were rewarded for their outstanding work during the 2024 Kanwar Mela.
