Dehradun: PM Modi, in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address, appreciated the efforts of residents of Jhala, a village near the India-China border in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, where the youth have launched a cleanliness drive called ‘Dhanyavaad Prakriti’ (Thank You, Nature).

The campaign aims to maintain the cleanliness of the village as a way of expressing gratitude to the environment. “In this border village, a group of young individuals dedicate two hours every day to collect the garbage scattered in the streets, which is then disposed of at a designated site located outside the village.
“The initiative has not only improved the clean- liness of Jhala but also raised environmental awareness among the residents, which the PM said is “a laudable and inspiring effort”.
