Dehradun: A comprehensive cleanliness drive was conducted in the Song Enclave residential colony on Sunday under the joint auspices of the Song Enclave Development Committee and the Delta Defence Academy. Residents of the colony, along with students from the Delta Defence Academy, participated enthusiastically. Starting early in the morning, students and committee members cleaned various avenues, roadsides, and public spaces throughout the neighborhood.
A large quantity of plastic and other waste was gathered during the drive. Approximately one tonne of plastic waste was collected, which will be sent for proper disposal via Dehradun Municipal Corporation waste-collection vehicles. During the drive, organizers also raised public awareness about cleanliness, encouraging residents not to litter in public spaces and to dispose of garbage responsibly.
Speaking on the occasion, Trilok Singh Chauhan, President of the Song Enclave Development Committee, stated that maintaining a clean and beautiful colony is not solely the responsibility of the municipal corporation or sanitation workers, but requires the active participation of every citizen. He appealed to residents not to dump waste along roads, drains, and pathways, emphasizing that cleanliness should not be limited to sporadic drives but developed into a daily habit.
Shiv Prasad Mamgain, Patron of the Committee, suggested organizing collective cleanliness drives every Sunday with maximum participation from residents and youth. He noted that this would not only keep the environment clean but also foster a sense of shared community responsibility.
Kulbeer Chaudhary, owner of the Delta Defence Academy, appreciated the students’ involvement, highlighting the importance of instilling social responsibility and environmental consciousness in young people. He added that initiatives like cleanliness drives serve as an effective way to connect youth with their civic duties.
The drive saw the presence of Delta Defence Academy Warden Mahendra Singh Rawat, Committee Secretary Rameshwar Chauhan, Treasurer Rajiv Panwar, Mahendra Singh Negi Guruji, M.S. Aswal, Chandan Singh Bisht, Rajendra Singh Negi, Tarak Chauhan, alongside committee officials, residents, and academy students.
