Dehradun: Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami released the ‘Solar Awareness Souvenir Booklet’ prepared by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister stated that this initiative is not merely the release of a booklet, but a symbol of collective resolve toward building a bright, self-reliant, and green future for Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister also saiod that the entire world is currently grappling with climate change, energy crises, and environmental challenges. In such times, solar energy is not just an option but a necessity for securing the future of coming generations. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand has achieved remarkable milestones under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, serving as an inspiration for the entire country.
He further added that the state has achieved its initial target of installing 40,000 rooftop solar plants ahead of schedule, with nearly 95 percent of the targeted installation work already completed. Today, Uttarakhand ranks among the top states in the country for the effective implementation of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.
The Chief Minister revealed that in just two years since 2024, the state has recorded a nearly tenfold increase in its solar energy capacity. Uttarakhand has successfully installed residential rooftop solar plants with a capacity of approximately 290 megawatts. He termed this a historic achievement toward building a self-reliant Uttarakhand in the energy sector. Commending the coordinated efforts of UPCL, UREDA, regional officers, and all associated departments and organizations, he credited this success to the collective commitment and dedication of “Team Uttarakhand.”
On this occassion MLA Shri Suresh Gariya, Principal Secretary Dr. R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shri Vinay Shankar Pandey, CEEW Chief Executive Officer Dr. Arunabha Ghosh, PTCUL Managing Director Dr. Meherban Singh Bisht, UPCL Managing Director Shri G. S. Budiyal, and other senior departmental officials were also present.
