DHANAUT (NADAUN): Bajaj Finance Limited (BFL), a subsidiary of Bajaj Finserv and India’s largest private-sector Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), conducted a ‘Knockout Digital Fraud’ awareness session at the Ved Dhara Global School campus in Gram Dhanaut. The programme aimed to educate digital users on emerging cyber threats and best practices to safeguard their personal finances.
The event is part of Bajaj Finance’s broader 100-city cyber security initiative, designed to empower citizens against the rising tide of digital scams. The ‘Knockout Digital Fraud’ programme is aligned with the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) 2024 Fraud Risk Management Guidelines for NBFCs. These mandates prioritise early detection of fraudulent activities, employee accountability, and public participation to fortify the digital ecosystem for all stakeholders.
Organisers focused on alerting citizens to common tactics used by scammers, such as Fraudsters posing as company employees or representatives. Malicious WhatsApp groups and social media accounts mimicking legitimate financial institutions. Websites claiming false associations with established brands.
Addressing the gathering, Inspector, Nazar Singh of Jwaladevi Police Station urged the public to maintain strict digital hygiene. “To shield yourselves from cybercriminals, you must use strong, distinct passwords for different accounts. Always enable two-factor authentication and ensure your antivirus software is up to date,” he stated.
The Inspector further cautioned against clicking on suspicious links or files and sharing sensitive financial data over unsolicited calls or messages. “Do not fall for the lure of ‘too-good-to-be-true’ online offers,” he added.
A spokesperson for Bajaj Finance highlighted the company’s commitment, stating, “Consumer security is our paramount priority. We are continuously issuing online and offline advisories across social media and ground-level interactions to foster a cyber-secure culture.”
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Principal Mohan Joshi, who lauded Bajaj Finance for their proactive efforts. The session saw participation from teachers, students, and several local dignitaries.
The cyber fraud awareness campaign shared several key safety tips to protect sensitive information and never share your OTP or PIN with anyone. Avoid clicking on links or scanning QR codes from unknown sources. Do not download applications from third-party or unverified websites.Regularly review your online privacy and security settings.
