Innovation Award for Physics Lecturer Sandeep Kumar.

Dehradun: Sandeep Kumar, Lecturer (Physics) at Government Inter College, Mergaon, has been awarded a cash prize of ₹11,000 for the enhancement of his innovative project, a Fingerprint-based Electronic Voting Machine. The award was presented during a ceremony held at the SCERT Auditorium, Dehradun, as part of the Hackathon 2.0 program.

Sandeep Kumar was also the winner of Hackathon 1.0. For Hackathon 2.0, this incentive was granted in recognition of the project’s utility, technical innovation, and its potential to make the democratic process more secure. The award was presented by the Director of Secondary Education, Uttarakhand, Mr. Mukul Sati, in collaboration with the Agastya Foundation.

On this occasion Sandeep Kumar said that his developed Fingerprint EVM identifies voters through biometric data, which can significantly curb the possibility of bogus voting. He stated that this system is a vital step toward making the polling process more transparent, secure, and reliable.

Sandeep Kumar further mentioned that the prize money would be utilized to make the project more technically advanced, secure, and practical, with the aim of exploring possibilities for large-scale implementation in the future.

On this occassion Education Department officials, teachers, technical experts, and representatives from various educational institutions were also present. This initiative is being hailed as a significant step toward fostering a culture of innovation within the education sector.
