The Eighth Evening of ‘Ninaad Mahotsav’ Dedicated to Renowned Poets.

 Himalayan Culture Centre,  Dehradun: The eighth day of the Ninad Festival 2025, a confluence of Himalayan states, was also vibrant with song, music, and dance. Artists from Uttarakhand as well as Jammu and Kashmir gave their performances.

The first session of the program began with a Ram Bhajan (devotional song dedicated to Lord Rama) recital by the Bhatkhande Hindustani Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Almora. The artists created a devotional atmosphere with their splendid presentation of the Ram Bhajan.

This was followed by a performance of Tillana, a dance style in Bharatanatyam. The students of the music college mesmerized the audience with this rhythm-based, expressive dance. The college also presented a magnificent performance of Shiv Stuti (hymn in praise of Lord Shiva).

Colors of Kashmiri Culture: Gojri and Dogri Folk Dances

Artists from Jammu spread the beautiful colors of their culture in the open-air theatre. First, the Gojri dance was presented. In this dance by women of the Gujjar tribe, the women are shown struggling to clean their livestock. During this time, a bird bothers them, and the girls gather to chase it away. Following this, the artists from Jammu performed a dance to the Dogri folk song, ‘Chhan-Chhan Pajeb Meri Chhanke’ (My Anklets Jingle-Jingle).

“Earlier, in the second session, the Bhatkhande Hindustani Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Dehradun, presented classical singing and dance performances in the open theatre. Following this, the girl students of MKP College, Dehradun, gave a splendid presentation of Nanda Rajjaat, folk songs, and dances.”

Music Therapy: The Role of Music in Curing Diseases

In the second session of the Ninad Festival, a program was held on the role of music in curing diseases. Dr. Vijay Bhatt provided information about treating diseases through his flute recital. Dr. Bhatt has been delivering lectures and performing the flute on this subject across various locations in the country for a long time. He has mastered the technique of treating diseases based on different Ragas (melodic modes). Dr. Bhatt, a resident of Dehradun, has received education in both music and yoga and is currently working as a music practitioner.

The eighth evening of the Ninaad Mahotsav, organized by Department of Culture, Uttarakhand was dedicated to the country’s renowned poets. Poets including Dr. Hariom Panwar and Dr. Vishnu Saxena, among many others, mesmerized the audience with their poetry. The audience also enjoyed the performances by other artists and poets.

The program was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp by Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, Culture Secretary Yugal Kishore Pant, and other guests. Ritesh Mishra and Rajneesh Mishra started the program with their rendition of Raga Puriya Dhanashree, titled ‘Sumiran Karun Mein Ram Naam Ko’. Following this, they presented ‘Pailiya Jhankaar Re Mori’ and a performance in Drut Teen Taal.

Inaugurating the poetry conference, the famous humor poet Shambhu Shikhar recited several of his poems. The audience roared with laughter upon hearing his verses.

The poetess Shweta Singh earned much applause by reciting her poem: “Aankhon-aankhon mein batiyana achcha lagta hai, khwabon ka sandook sajana achcha lagta hai, rishta koi juda nahi lekin kehta hai main uski hoon, uska yoon apna haq jatana achcha lagta hai.”

Dr. Vishnu Saxena won the hearts of the audience by reciting: “Dile beemaar sahi ho wo dawayain de de, main sabpe pyaar lutaun wo duwaye de de, Ae mere Rab main saans-saans mein mehak jaaun, meri aawaz ki khushbu ko wo hawaen de de.”

Local poet Ambar Kharbanda also received great applause by reciting: “Zabaan par bhi wahi aata hai jo dil mein hota hai, kabhi jazbaat mein lehje mein laachari nahi aati, tumko sach-sach bataein hum badi masti mein jeete hain, Khuda ka shukr hai humein adaakari nahi aati.”

Finally, Dr. Hariom Panwar took the stage and presented several poems of the Veer Ras, which the audience thoroughly enjoyed. He thrilled the spectators by reciting poems like: “Pairon mein angaare baandhe, seene mein toofaan baandhe,” “Desh jale main kuch na bolun, main aisa gaddar nahi” and “Delhi keh de atom bomb ki dhamki dene walon se.

Decorations at Martyr Memorials

Culture Secretary Jugal Kishore Pant informed that special decorations have been done at the martyr memorials on the occasion of State Foundation Day, specifically at Muzaffarnagar, Rampur Tiraha, the District Court Complex in Dehradun, and the Shaheed Smarak in Mussoorie. The statue of Indramani Badoni located at Ghantaghar in Dehradun has also been decorated. He said that a heartfelt remembrance of the martyrs of the Statehood movement will be observed at all the martyr memorials.

CM Dhami Showed Courage to Implement UCC

The renowned poet Dr. Hariom Panwar highly praised Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He said that only politicians like Dhami could muster the courage to implement a strict law like the UCC. He added that this law had been long overdue and was beyond anyone’s ability to implement. By doing so, CM Dhami has set an example for everyone.
