Over 4.6 million devotees have visited Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib so far
Dehradun: Despite challenges posed by natural disasters, the Char Dham Yatra is once again heading toward setting a new record in terms of the number of pilgrims. So far, over 4.6 million devotees have visited the Char Dham shrines and Hemkund Sahib. In comparison, the total number of pilgrims recorded during the entire yatra season last year was 4.8 million. The Char Dham Yatra, considered the backbone of the state’s economy, began this year on April 30.
Incidents of rain, heavy rainfall, cloudbursts, and landslides have affected the operation of the pilgrimage. Due to these weather-related challenges, the state government had to suspend the yatra multiple times. Still, compared to last year, the number of devotees visiting the shrines has remained strong.
In Uttarkashi’s Dharali and Harsil regions, the yatra to Gangotri and Yamunotri was completely disrupted due to natural disasters. However, once the weather improved and challenges were overcome, the Char Dham Yatra regained momentum. Currently, around 14,000 to 15,000 devotees are visiting the shrines daily. Once again, the number of pilgrims is moving towards setting a new record. The number of visitors to Kedarnath and Badrinath is nearing last year’s record levels.
Chardham Yatra Registration Numbers: Over 5.7 Million Registered
From April 30 to October 3, more than 5.729 million pilgrims have registered for the Char Dham Yatra. Out of these, 4.6 million have already completed their visits. On Friday alone, 1,900 offline registrations were done.
