₹30 Crore Deposit Mandatory in Each Cooperative Bank Branch: Dhan Singh Rawat, Cooperation Minister.

Dehradun: The state’s Cooperative Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat reviewed the functioning of cooperative banks at the UCF building, Dehradun. He instructed all bank branches to open 5,000 new accounts and instructed that a deposit of ₹30 crore must be mandatorily ensured in each branch. Action will be taken against officers who fail to meet these targets.

The Cooperation Minister emphasized that the banks’ business must be expanded. For this, new accounts should be opened, and adequate deposits should be ensured to strengthen the banks’ financial health. He instructed all branch managers to take their assigned targets seriously. He also announced that a wide-scale online membership drive would be launched from October 1, aiming to add 1 lakh (100,000) new members. The goal of this campaign is to further broaden the reach of cooperative banks. He added that the Uttarakhand State Cooperative Bank should also fulfill its social responsibilities and should actively contribute to social initiatives like the construction of schools.

Better Performance in Uttarkashi and Kashipur Districts

The work of the branches in Uttarkashi and Kashipur district was considered better. The Uttarkashi branch achieved 100% recovery of its NPAs and reported a profit of ₹36 lakh. The Kashipur branch is also in profit. However, dissatisfaction was expressed regarding the performance of the branches in Haridwar, Gopeshwar, Khatima, and Bajpur, which are currently incurring losses.

He further stated that the name of the Corporate Branch of the State Cooperative Bank in Dehradun should be changed, as it is not currently functioning in line with its “corporate” designation. MD Pradeep Mehrotra instructed all branches to focus on reducing expenses, issuing secure loans, increasing deposits, and lowering NPAs. He emphasized the need for a special action plan to recover and control NPAs.

The meeting was attended by former DCB Tehri President Subhash Ramola, Pradeep Chaudhary, Ira Upreti, Pradeep Mehrotra, Akanksha Kandari, Suresh Napchyal, and Bhupendra Kumawat.
