Dehradun: Punjab National Bank (PNB), public sector bank, has contributed ₹1 crore to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, for relief efforts in disaster-affected areas of Dharali and Harsil in Uttarkashi district under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. On this occasion, Additional Secretary Mr. Manmohan Mainali and Zonal Head of Dehradun Zone, Mr. Anupam, were also present. They reiterated the bank’s commitment to stand with the struggling people of the hilly region during times of crisis.
This decision reflects PNB’s deep connection with the people of Uttarakhand and is a heartfelt response to the torrential rainfall and climate disruption that occurred in the state on August 5, 2025. A cloudburst in the Uttarkashi district led to landslides and flash floods in Dharali village, causing severe hardship to the local communities. The disaster resulted in significant loss of life and property, leaving families in distress and in urgent need of assistance.
Mr. Ashok Chandra, MD & CEO of PNB, said “Our thoughts are with the people of Uttarakhand who are facing this challenging time with extraordinary courage and resilience. In this moment of sorrow and hardship, PNB stands firmly with every affected family, every community, and every individual. Our support is more than just financial – it is a heartfelt commitment of solidarity and compassion. Together, we will rise, rebuild, and emerge stronger than ever before.”
