Dehradun: At the IRDAI-led review of the Uttarakhand State Insurance Plan held in Dehradun, Aviva Life Insurance India proudly presented its progress in advancing insurance inclusion and holistic wellness at the grassroots level.
The review meeting was attended by senior IRDAI officials including Mr. RK Sharma, Chief General Manager, Mr. Ammu Venkataramana, General Manager, and Mr. Baskar Theertharaman, Deputy General Manager, along with representatives from leading insurance providers in the region.
As the lead life insurer for the state, Aviva highlighted key initiatives under the State Plan, including the appointment of nearly 150 Aviva Wellness Advisors over the past year, and the rollout of awareness campaigns across every gram panchayat to simplify access, and deliver affordable insurance solutions across some of Uttarakhand’s most underserved regions. These initiatives reflect Aviva’s strong commitment to last-mile access and align with IRDAI’s vision of ‘Insurance for All by 2047’.
During the review, Mr. RK Sharma encouraged insurers to explore Personal Accident Insurance coverage for pilgrims — a key step toward protecting lives in one of India’s most spiritually significant yet physically challenging journeys. He also urged insurers to launch targeted awareness campaigns and outreach programs, aligned with Uttarakhand’s specific insurance needs, to drive deeper community engagement.
Sharing his vision, Asit Rath, CEO & MD, Aviva India, said, “At Aviva, we view insurance not just as a financial product, but as a critical enabler of holistic wellbeing – encompassing physical, mental, financial, social, and spiritual health. Through our initiatives, we are empowering women, creating livelihood opportunities, and building a culture of resilience in Uttarakhand’s villages.”
Aviva’s efforts align closely with IRDAI’s broader goals of fostering insurance inclusion through innovative distribution, community-based models, and region-specific interventions. The Uttarakhand State Insurance Plan stands as a blueprint for collaborative impact – one that brings the promise of protection to the doorstep of every Indian.
