Grand Finale of the 2nd Asian Yogasana Sport Championship Held in Delhi.

– India — 83 Gold, 3 Silver, 1 Bronze (Rank 1)

– Japan — 3 Gold, 3 Silver, 4 Bronze (Rank 2)

– Mongolia — 1 Gold, 11 Silver, 6 Bronze (Rank 3)

– Oman — 1 Gold, 3 Silver, 7 Bronze (Rank 4)

– Nepal — 0 Gold, 27 Silver, 12 Bronze (Rank 5)

New Delhi: The grand closing ceremony of the 2nd Asian Yogasana Sport Championship took place on Sunday at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi, marking the successful end of a vibrant three-day celebration of Yogasana as a competitive sport.

 

The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, Shri Harsh Malhotra, lauded the efforts of the organisers and commended the international recognition being given to Yogasana. He praised the championship’s role in positioning Yogasana prominently on the global sports map.

Inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from 20 Asian countries, with athletes demonstrating exceptional skill, strength, and discipline in Yogasana performances.

 

Organised by Yogasana Bharat and the Asian Yogasana, the event was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Government of Delhi.

 

The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including revered Yogrishi Swami Ramdev, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta, Hon’ble Minister of Ayush Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, and Hon’ble Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Smt. Raksha Khadse, among others.

India stole the spotlight by securing the highest gold medals (83) in the championship, solidifying its position as a global leader in this sport. Japan and Mongolia claimed the second and third positions, respectively. However, the competition itself was not the primary focus. The true essence of this event lay in uniting the world through the harmony of mindful living and peace.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Sanjay Malpani, President of the Asian Yogasana, stated: “Born in India, Yoga in the form of Yogasana has now become a global movement. The inclusion of Yogasana as a demo sport in the Asian Games is a testament to its growing global significance.”

Adding to the vision, Secretary General of Yogasana Bharat and World Yogasana, Shri Jaideep Arya, shared his thoughts on the transformative journey of Yogasana and its future: “We must integrate Yogasana into our lifestyle… The inclusion of Yogasana as a demo sport in the upcoming Asian Games in Japan will mark the beginning of a new chapter for us.”

 

The organisers highlighted that the championship was not only a celebration of Yogasana as a sport, but also a unifying platform that brought together diverse cultures and countries, powerfully showcasing India’s spiritual legacy on the world stage.
